Our life expectancy evaluation provides a detailed summary of an insured’s medical history, including underwriting factors such as age, gender, health impairments, smoking status, lifestyle, and geographic location. The Life Expectancy Certificate will include a probability of mortality curve over time.
How Life Expectancy Is Calculated
A member of our team of registered nurses will review the insured’s medical records and relevant documents, extracting all of the information relevant to medical underwriting. The medical history is summarized into an abstraction presented to a life expectancy underwriter, who applies debits and/or credits to determine the mortality factor for the insured. The mortality factor is combined with the insured’s other underwriting factors as inputs into LSI’s proprietary actuarial table, which calculates the mean and median life expectancy and produces the probability of mortality curve. The medical summary and life expectancy data are included in the final Life Expectancy Certificate.
